"Authentic Tai Chi Ch'uan"

Welcome to BlueHeron

A school of T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Martial Arts (Mulan Fa Chuan).
T'ai Chi Ch'uan (aka Taijiquan) is sometimes called meditation in movement. It uses breath, slow gentle movement and concentration to bring about physiological changes in the body and creates an overall feeling of well being. Its origins are rooted in ancient China, this is an integrated exercise system for body, mind and spirit which dates back over 1000 years. The literal translation of "T'ai" is large or great, while "Chi" can be translated as ultimate energy. T'ai Chi Ch'uan therefore is about the generation and manipulation of energy (Chi) by the use of mindful meditative movements.

Instructor

Joanne Jeneski The owner and chief instructor, Sifu Joanne is a certified T'ai Chi Ch'uan Instructor, with a strong background in other martial arts. She continues her study in Chi Gong, Taoist philosophy and Tui Na with Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine here in New England and in Thailand. She has practiced T'ai Chi Ch'uan in New England, China, and Thailand.

Martial Art

Our T'ai Chi Ch'uan practice goes beyond the exercise method but also includes the martial applications of the T'ai Chi forms. Here we teach the possible uses of T'ai Chi in self-defense situations.

Mulan Fa Chuan (Mulan Fist)

Mulan Fist is a modern, practical martial art created specifically for women. It is a "hard" art which focuses on conditioning as well as training for self-defense. Although it is modern it is taught in a traditional context with ethics, tenets, a curriculum and belt testings. Most traditional martial arts were created for men to combat men of equal stature. There have been martial arts created by women before but these as well became dominated by men. Mulan Fa Chuan is a modern art from South East Asia. It is named after the famous historical figure who took her fathers place in the Chinese Army, hid the fact that she was a woman and became an officer of high rank. When her time in service was completed she was offered a prestigious position and wealth but asked only for a horse to return home. Hua Mulan was a gifted martial artist, tactician and swordsman.

Mulan Fa Chuan is dedicated to her. Meaning "Mulan Fist", it embodies the tenants of Mulan Hua's humility, strength and martial skill. It is a martial art based on practical application of Asian methods of combat.
More on Mulan Fa Chuan can be found at the Official Mulan Fa Chuan Martial Arts Society web site: MULAN FA CHUAN SOCIETY and our schools web page at Mulan Fa Chuan practice at Blue Heron.

Chi Gong

Chi Gong is a set of meditative exercises developed over a thousand years ago by Taoist monks in China. By combining simple body movements, breathing and mental imagery you can direct the flow of your body's energy (Chi) to help prevent disease, build strength and to advance spiritually. In the philosophy of Chi Gong, our primary aim is to maintain or restore balance and harmony within the ourselves, the results of which manifests in the body as good health and in the mind as a spirit of calmness.

Tai Chi is not a one time practice, but rather an everyday experience.
